Week In Review: (July 30, 2021)
Each day USMWF extensively researches articles regarding work
incidents, illnesses and diseases to share with you recognizing those we
have lost. But, also to gain attention to such losses to prevent
similar incidents, illnesses and diseases from occurring.
USMWF
knows and understand that these articles represent only a few of the 14
workers lost each day due to a work related incident in the United
States as not every incident is recognized by the local media.
We
never forget those that went to work and never came home to their
families and we hope that you remember them and their stories.

Man Dies After Being Buried Underground When Ground Gave Out Underneath Him In North Philadelphia, Police Say- By CBS3 Staff
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A construction worker is dead after a partial wall
collapse in Philadelphia’s Feltonville neighborhood Tuesday morning.
The collapse happened on the 700 block of Ramona Avenue, where an Amazon
warehouse is under construction.

2 dead, 30 hospitalized in chemical leak at LyondellBasell chemical plant in La Porte- ABC 13 Eyewitness News.
LA PORTE, Texas (KTRK) -- As of Wednesday night, two people involved in
the chemical release at LyondellBasell in La Porte were still
hospitalized. That's an improvement from earlier in the day when there
were three.

Worker dies following incident at Stockertown cement plant, representative says (UPDATE)-By

UPDATE: Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek on Thursday
identified the subcontractor who died after an incident this week at
Hercules Cement in Stockertown as Michael Pittman, 33, of Clearville,
Bedford County, Pennsylvania. The cause and manner of his death and the
circumstances surrounding it are still under investigation and will be
released once the probe is complete, Lysek said.

S&WB employee shoots, kills coworker on Franklin Avenue, NOPD reports; The New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board confirmed that both men were current employees. -WWL Staff
NEW ORLEANS — A Sewerage & Water Board employee was shot and
killed by one of his coworkers on Franklin Avenue Thursday morning,
according to NOPD.
New Orleans police arrested Damon Rideau for allegedly shooting and
killing one of his coworkers near a S&WB job site on Franklin
Avenue.

PCA employee killed in apparent workplace accident at Counce papermill-The Courier
A Packaging Corporation of America employee was killed Thursday
afternoon in a workplace incident, the Hardin County Sheriff’s
Department reports.
Jesse Cole Jordan, 31, of Stantonville,
Tennessee died in what HCSD Investigator Jeremy Hulen said this
afternoon appears to be an accident.
